PEARL, MS — The Mississippi Independent Auto Dealers Association (MSIADA) is proud to announce that Dodd Turner of Turner Auto Group, LLC in Greenwood, MS has been named the 2025 Quality Dealer of the Year. This prestigious award honors independent automobile dealers who demonstrate exceptional business practices, strong community involvement, and a steadfast commitment to the independent dealer industry.
A Lifelong Commitment to the Industry
Dodd Turner’s career in the automobile business began in 2007 at his father’s dealership, Mike Turner Auto Sales. Like many in the industry, he started from the ground up—selling cars, washing vehicles, and doing whatever was needed. When the 2008 recession hit, Dodd returned to Greenwood to help his father with collections, working side by side with banks and finance companies. Those experiences ignited his interest in the financial side of the business.
Over the next eight years, Dodd advanced to sales manager and finance manager, overseeing three lots. In 2019, he purchased his father’s business, transforming it into Turner Auto Group. Under his leadership, the dealership has grown steadily, increasing sales by more than 50% since its founding. Turner Auto Group operates as a Buy Here Pay Here dealership, where success depends on customer relationships rather than volume alone.
Investing in the Community
Turner Auto Group is not only a thriving dealership but also a cornerstone of community involvement in Greenwood. The business proudly sponsors local baseball and soccer teams, the Greenwood Police and Fire Departments, and supports initiatives through the Greenwood Exchange Club. Dodd and his family are active members of North Greenwood Baptist Church, where his wife Katie teaches children’s classes weekly.
The dealership’s commitment to service has been recognized by the community as well. In 2023, Turner Auto Group received the People’s Choice Award for the best place to buy a used car, and Dodd was honored with Greenwood’s Top 30 Under 40 Award.
Supporting Charities that Matter
Dodd and his team have made it a priority to give back to those in need. Turner Auto Group supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Salvation Army, local churches, and the Greenwood Exchange Club. In 2023, they donated a van to the local animal shelter to transport dogs and cats for treatment in Starkville—just one example of their hands-on approach to helping the community.
Leadership in the Industry
Dodd Turner has also been a dedicated supporter of MSIADA throughout his career. He has served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer and Vice President, actively working to bring new dealers into the association and mentoring others in the industry. He has also been involved in hiring processes for MSIADA staff and continues to support the association’s mission to strengthen and grow independent auto dealers in Mississippi.

When asked what sets Turner Auto Group apart, Dodd points to one thing: relationships.
“Our success is based on a customer paying for a car, not the number of cars sold,” Turner explained. “We truly befriend every customer we sell to. By treating each customer with respect, word of mouth works to our advantage. It is rewarding to build those relationships.”
