To All Used Car Dealers in Mississippi:

The Mississippi House of Representatives and the Mississippi Senate passed House Bill 260. Recently, Governor Phil Bryant signed this legislation into law effective July 1, 2014.

What does this law mean for Mississippi Automobile Dealers? Mississippi automobile dealers no longer pay sales tax on finance charges. This is only one legislative accomplishment that your Mississippi Independent Automobile Dealer Association has recently helped change for the betterment of Mississippi dealers.

Consider the following:

• 2007 Senate Bill 2638 approved — requiring pre-license education was enacted.
• 2007 Senate Bill 2809 approved — requiring insurance companies to include the lien holders name on all checks issued when there was a total loss involved in an accident.
• 2013 House Bill 1335 approved — helped stop illegal “curbstoning” – parked vehicles anywhere with a for sale sign in the vehicle.

How do these four legislative accomplishments get passed the first year they were introduced?

Being a member of your state association you are automatically a member of the national association. Without the national association looking out for our industry in Washington we would have more and more requirements and regulations to deal with.
